We have been successful in achieving our goal to secure funding from the National Lottery through Arts Council England for the creation of our film on the cross-curricular benefits of music in schools. Aimed at non-musical primary school teachers, this will set out the scientific evidence that proves that taking part in, or listening to music has a demonstrable cross-curricular benefit to education. This is not simply a local project - this film starring Ben Foukes, aka Mr Bloom in BBC CBeebies, will be transmitted nationally.

We are particularly thrilled with this Arts Council England award as many of you will know that Arts Council England do not normally fund films. Frankly, it was pure determination, a brilliant application led by trustee, Alice Harper and a generous anonymous donation by one of our champions that won the day. We were also kindly assisted by North Somerset's Mark Trego, and Professor Sue Hallam, Professor of Education at the University of London (an expert in the benefits of music in education) and of course our Patron, Peter Donohoe.

The hard work now begins and we will keep you informed of progress on this very exciting project.
