Music students from Churchill Academy

Advanced music students at Churchill Academy compete for the generous cash prize (from an anonymous donor), the opportunity to perform at a lunchtime concert at St. George’s Bristol and our ‘Audience’ and ‘Junior’ trophies.

This year we are truly honoured to have a Peter Hewitt as the chair of our adjudicators. Peter is the Director of the Royal College of Music Junior Department in London – one of the nation’s premiere training grounds for school-age young musicians of exceptional potential – where he has nurtured the talents of the past two BBC Young Musicians of the Year as well as many other stars of the music world. Peter is also a senior examiner for the ABRSM and Churchill’s young musicians could not be in better hands than those of this most experienced and dedicated nurturer of young musical talent. Peter is joined by Alice Harper, strings and voice and Adrian Trapp, piano and keyboard. The panel’s lively, constructive adjudication gives the musicians valuable pointers for their future success.

The standard is high, the atmosphere thrilling and the adjudication is lively and informative.

With delicious nibbles in the interval this popular event will not only warm even the chilliest winter evening but it has become a high spot in our music calendar!
