Ten finalists from Churchill Community School compete for titles, trophies, opportunities and cash prizes.

The Churchill Young Musician of the Year competition is open to advanced students of Churchill Community School (Performing Arts Status). All entrants must be of grade 7 standard or above. The ten finalists will be judged not only on their technical merit, but also on their presentation skills.

You, our audience, take part by casting your vote to select the winner of the specially commissioned Churchill Music! Audience Trophy.

The winner receives the coveted title, 'Churchill Young Musician of the Year', a generous cash prize donated by an anonymous donor and for the first time this year, the fabulous opportunity to perform along with other regional/school competition winners in a lunchtime concert in one of the country's most prestigious of chamber music venues, St. George's, Bristol. The Churchill Music! Junior Trophy will also be awarded to a younger musician exhibiting potentially outstanding musicianship.

The judging panel is chaired this year by Colin Parr ARCM former Principal Clarinet of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. He will be assisted by our Patron, Vivienne Price MBE, founder of the National Children's Orchestras and Alice Murray MA, Soprano, Trustee of Churchill Music! and currently working in the Junior Department of the Royal College of Music.

The atmosphere between the competitors is electric as they support and cheer each other on - perfectly reflecting the spirit of this competition. If all that isn’t enough, our ‘world renowned’, delicious nibbles will be in circulation whilst the judging panel is ‘out’, to calm your nerves!

Can you resist joining us to encourage this personification of the vibrant state of classical music among our young people? We do hope not!
